The GR86 is designed from the pavement up for track-tested and proven driving fun as designed and engineered by GAZOO RACING, Toyota’s global racing division. From rallies in the world’s most extreme climates and terrains to endurance races, the lessons learned have been distilled into the GR86. Circuit-ready credentials include lightweight materials, a wide stance, a low centre of gravity, and a driver-focussed cockpit with optimally-positioned controls and the use of toggle switches for tactile control.
A new addition for the 2024 manual transmission models is a standard Active Safety Suite. The system uses a stereo camera to monitor the road ahead and includes features like Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Sway Warning, Lead Vehicle Start Alert and High Beam Assist. This system was previously standard on automatic transmission models only. The addition of active safety adds to Toyota’s Star Safety System™, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and more.
Every GR86 model is built around a naturally aspired 2.4L Flat-4 boxer engine featuring Toyota’s innovative D-4S dual injection system and a 12.5:1 compression ratio for maximum power. This powerhouse delivers up to 228 horsepower and hits peak torque of 184 lb-ft at just 3,700 RPM, delivering powerful and sustained acceleration right off the line. The GR86 is offered in a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The GR86 features a light yet exceptionally stiff chassis, double wishbone rear suspension, highly responsive electric power steering, and an active rear sport differential. These combine to create an engaging drive on everyday roads while delivering impressive lap times at the track. Models equipped with manual transmissions can deliver 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, while the automatic transmission can achieve 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.
The GR86 features aggressive styling that is more than skin deep: from tip to tail, the body is designed to cheat the wind and elevate performance. Design flairs such as air intakes, side sill spoilers, and rear wheel arch fins increase downforce to enhance grip. Inside, GR86 features a classic sport coupe 2+2 seating configuration, with deeply bolstered front seats that keep driver and navigator comfortable on long drives while firmly planted during spirited maneuvers. Drivers can toggle the digital instrumentation between multiple modes – including a Track setting, which presents real-time readouts of data such as gear position and engine speed to aid in instant decision-making.
Every GR86 is also equipped with Connected Services by Toyota to keep driver in touch with the people and things that matter. All models include an 8-inch touchscreen display to interact with the Remote Connect, Safety Connect, and Service Connect features. This display audio system also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, USB inputs, and integrated Sirius XM Satellite radio.

The 2024 Toyota GR86 MT introduces the thrill of driving a well-honed performance coupe. This model features the 6-speed manual transmission, 17” alloy wheels, Active Sound Control, digital gauge cluster, 7-inch multi-information display, a 6-speaker audio system, dual zone automatic air conditioning, heated exterior mirrors, LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights, the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start, and an anti-theft system with alarm. This model is offered in five body colours – Steel, Track bRed, TRUENO Blue, Raven, and Halo – all with a black interior.
The 2024 Toyota GR86 AT includes all the standard equipment on the manual transmission model but substitutes a 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. This model also features full-speed dynamic radar cruise control. This model is offered in five body colours – Steel, Track bRed, TRUENO Blue, Raven, and Halo – all with a black interior.
The 2024 Toyota GR86 Premium MT enhances the MT grade with several upgrades. These include an 8-speaker audio system, 18” alloy wheels clad in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, a duck bill spoiler, the adaptive front lighting system, heated front seats, leather/Alcantara upholstery, aluminum sport pedals, scuff plates, and the Blind Spot Monitoring system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. This model is offered in seven striking exterior colours – Steel, Track bRed, TRUENO Blue, Neptune 2.0, Raven, Pavement, and Halo – all with a black interior.
The 2024 Toyota GR86 Premium AT upgrades the AT grade with several enhancements. These include an 8-speaker audio system, 18” alloy wheels clad in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, a duck bill spoiler, the adaptive front lighting system, heated front seats, leather/Alcantara upholstery, aluminum sport pedals, scuff plates, the Blind Spot Monitoring system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Automatic High Beam Assist. This model is offered in the full range of exterior colours – Steel, Track bRed, TRUENO Blue, Neptune 2.0, Raven, Pavement, and Halo – all with a black interior.
The 2024 Toyota GR86 TRUENO Edition MT builds on the Premium MT configuration. Performance upgrades include Brembo Brakes and Sachs dampers. This limited production model also features many exclusive styling cues – including black door handles, exterior mirrors, and spoiler, TRUENO exterior and interior badges, black-wrapped hood, black door/side panel graphics, unique black metallic 18” ten-spoke alloy wheels, a black interior with red accents, a unique shift knob, and TRUENO all-season floor mats and cargo tray. This model is offered in two 2-tone colour schemes: Halo with black and Track bRed with black. Only 50 of these special edition vehicles will be available in Canada.
